As a Backend Engineer in Zalando Partner Tech, you will get to build this software and innovate, optimize and automate how our systems work on a massive scale. You will be responsible for developing and operating in production backend microservices using Scala, AWS, Kubernetes and we will support you to grow and work with exciting modern technologies.

WHERE YOUR EXPERTISE IS NEEDED

Partner Tech provides a technical ecosystem where partners can connect to and sell at Zalando. Our team builds and operates a subset in this domain building business-critical services which partners use to fulfill orders placed by Zalando customers.

• Build and operate an ecosystem where our partners can use our tools, services and APIs to handle orders placed by Zalando customers

• Together with your team, you will own your code and decide on the technologies and methods to deliver, as well as operate large-scale applications Cloud Platforms

• Actively participate in each stage of the development cycle as part of a strong engineering team - from solution design to implementation, testing, monitoring and operating your code in a production environment.

• Perform code reviews, share knowledge and provide constructive feedback to team members.

• Actively participate in team discussions, design decisions and requirements clarifications with stakeholders and product managers.

• You keep learning and share your knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies that will help us innovate faster

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Solid command of JVM based languages (Scala, Java, Kotlin), willingness and interest in learning Scala and knowledge of software patterns and paradigms like continuous integration, test automation and deployment pipelines.

• Experience in specifying, planning, developing, maintaining and operating microservices using REST API (OpenAPI), Cloud Platforms (AWS, Kubernetes), PostgreSQL.

• Experience or interest in web frontend technologies (React, Vue, Micro Frontend Architecture) is a plus.

• High level knowledge or interest in data engineering and familiarity with DAGs, data pipelines, S3, Superset, Databricks, or Airflow is a plus.

• You have good communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working in an international and diverse environment with a positive no-job-is-beneath you attitude as a team player

• You are self-motivated and have a proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.

• You have problem-solving skills and ability to apply logical and analytical thinking to complex problems
